Working Herts is a social enterprise that recruits unemployed young people under "Entry to Employment" and other programmes, in order to provide them with work experience and training. After 3-6 months on the course, trainees are helped to find permanent employment.
There are teams operating across South and West Hertfordshire, Luton and South Bedfordshire. Work undertaken by these teams includes:
* Installing energy saving measures in houses belonging to housing association, local authorities and private households;
* Erecting neighbourhood watch signs for Herts Police.
Much of this work is contracted by local authorities, housing associations and the police.
Income earned through the work is then used to supplement training fees or provide high levels of personal support. It is also used to pay for basic skills training, driving lessons, first aid training, workwear, minibus transport and exploratory awaydays.
Trainees 'learn by doing' many of the generic skills needed for employment; teamwork, punctuality, safe working, record keeping, communications and customer service.
Opening Hours: Normal office hours.
