Hertfordshire's own sailing base and environmental studies centre on the Norfolk Broads. Set on the edge of Barton Broad, itself a National Nature Reserve and with its own 14-acre private nature reserve in an SSSI and Ramsar-designated wetland area, BTAC offers unrivalled opportunities for field studies of this important resource-type, at primary, secondary, under and post-graduate levels.
We also offer adventurous activities for primary and secondary school groups, youth organisations, clubs, teachers, companies and individuals. Activities include:
* dinghy sailing;
* open canoes;
* team building;
* impromtu raft building;
* circus skills;
* parachute games;
* archery (by arrangement);
* orienteering;
* assault course;
* camp craft;
* survival skills;
* pond dipping;
* stream study;
* habitat studies;
* first aid training.
The centre also offers a range of indoor facilities including a classroom/dining room able to comfortably accommodate up to 60 people, toilets and shower rooms. Accommodation is in fixed tents, with a maximum capacity of about 44 (or more if you bring your own tents). Groups can self-cater or we can provide meals for them. All equipment for activities is provided.
BTAC is licenced by the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority and is an RYA Recognised Training Establishment.
