Essex Training Centre was founded in 2004 by Paul Garrett and Tony Westall. The Centre originally offered training courses through which the directors delivered the training. In 2004 the centre won the contract to deliver training for Ford Motor Group and also became members of the Guilds of Master Craftsmen and the Federation of Master Builders. In the year 2005 ETC was approached by the APEX consortium with a proposal to deliver an Entry To Employment programme (E2E).
Between the years 2006-2007 the Centre expanded to accommodate Motor Vehicle and Hair & Beauty. The latest advancement was in 2007, when ETC became a registered CSCS test centre.
