At the request of schools they recruit, train and place into schools, high-calibre, full-time pastoral care workers, who offer pupils unconditional care.
Pupils are referred to their workers by the teaching staff, who consider that the pupils would benefit from an experience of one-with-one from non-official workers who are appropriately trained.
They offer a one-day training seminar in which they seek to:
* define pastoral care;
* consider the principles of pastoral care;
* enhance their undstanding and knowledge of ourselves and the role they fulfil as teachers and classroom assistants;
* to discuss how they may be involved in pastoral care;
* to look at models of pastoral care;
* to recognise the cost of involvement in pastoral care.
Teachers and non-teaching adults can participate.
