The academic staff consists of 40 qualified and graduate teachers and 7 Nursery Nurses.

The School is situated in a pleasant residential area on the edge of green belt land in South Hertfordshire and yet conveniently placed for access to London. The facilities are extensive and include a purpose built Pre-preparatory Department, separate Sports Hall, Gymnasium/Theatre, Music Centre, Modern Languages and English Departments, two Science Laboratories, a state of the art design technology centre and an Information Technology room equipped with a PC network and school intranet. Each subject has its own designated classroom.

The School has its own Playing Fields on site. During their time at the school each boy will spend some time in France as this is an important and much valued part of the French Curriculum.

Boys are prepared for Common Entrance and Scholarship examinations to a wide range of Senior Independent Day and Boarding Schools.

The major sports are Football, Rugby and Cricket together with Athletics, cross country and Badminton. All boys learn to swim and have the opportunity to take part in a very wide range of sports and physical activities including outward bound. There is an annual skiing holiday.

Music, Art, Information Technology, Design Technology and PE are part of the timetabled curriculum for all boys regardless of their age. The school encourages boys to learn musical instruments and there is a School Orchestra and two choirs together with various instrumental groups.

Lochinver is committed to providing an all round education for every pupil and each child is encouraged to reach their own potential.

There is an extensive outdoor pursuits programme throughout the year which include a number of residential trips and the vast majority of trips, both residential and day trips are included in the school fees.

Parents and their sons are very welcome to visit the school at any time and should telephone the secretary to make an appointment.
