A day and boarding school for boys aged 5-13+.
A preparatory school set in 23 acres of woodland and playing fields with 144+ boys (50% boarding, 50% day) on the edge of Hemel Hempstead. Set up as a purpose-built campus in 1874, it has a first class all-round record and it has averaged more than 10 scholarships to independent senior schools annually since 2003. It has a modern teaching block of 8 classrooms and has just completed a new state-of-the-art Science and Technology block. Music plays a large part in school life with 90% of children playing at least one instrument; the department's reputation is well known.
The main sports played are soccer, rugby, cricket and hockey. Facilities include a recently modernised sports hall, double tennis courts, swimming pool, a nine hole golf course, all-weather cricket nets and an all-weather sports pitch.
Lockers is a small, happy, family community in which boys can excel in a variety of ways be it academic, sporting, dramatic, artistic, technological or musical. The average class size is 14 and there is a staff:pupil ratio of 1:8.
In the words of an OFSTED inspector who recently visited the school, "Lockers is obviously a very happy school."
