The U3A is an association formed by and run for older people, the retired and the semi-retired, who are eager to learn, make new contacts and to exchange a variety of experiences with one other. It is open to anyone with or without qualifications, and there are no examinations.

U3A members study in groups, not classes, in a friendly informal atmosphere. Meetings are flexible; members decide what to do and when, where and how to do it. A wide variety of subjects are offered and new ones are added as demand arises.

Subjects include Literature, Languages, Art, History, Local History, Garden Appreciation, Needlework, Genealogy, Walking and Computers.

The U3A has both National and Local Newsletters as well as regular monthly meetings and coffee mornings. It also organises a range of social events including theatre visits, holidays and away days.

Morning meetings take place between 10.00am and 12.00pm, afternoon between 2.00 and 4.00pm.

The annual membership fee is £9.00, and there is a charge of £1.00 per meeting.
