Proposed courses for 2008/2009:
* 'Novels with a Purpose': Dr Caroline Ellwood (10 weeks). Five novels with political purpose - staring with 'All Quiet on the Western Front'. Monday morning at the Baptist Church, The Nap, Kings langley, start 22nd September 2008.
* 'Short Story': Steven Wade-Jones (10 Weeks). Examination of short stories by Mansfield, Lawrence and Woolf discussing their import. Monday afternoon at Baptist Church, Kings Langley, start 22nd September 2008.
* 'Georgian England': Adam Smith (10 weeks). Reigns of first four Georges including the Industrial Revolution & birth of British Empire. Tuesday mornings at All Saints Church, Kings Langley, start 23rd September 2008.
* 'Music Appreciation': Dr John Winter (10+10 weeks - available as separate courses). 'Viva la France' French music from Louis XIV to 20th C. 'Music of Magic & Mystery' exploring myths and magic in orchestral and operatic works. Tuesday afternoon at All Saints Church, Kings Langley, start 23rd September 2008.
* 'Cities in Ancient Landscape': Florence Boardman (10 weeks). Pompeii, Petra London, Rome, etc. Wednesday morning at Baptist Church, Kings Langley, start 24th September 2008.
* 'Schools, Farms & Factories in England': Madeline Edmead (20 weeks). Buildings and their function - from schools to prisons, farms to theatres. Thursday afternoon at St Marys Church Hall, Hemel Hempstead, start 25th September 2008.
* 'The 19th Century House': Madeline Edmead (20 weeks). Examine houses from cottages and back-to-backs to Gothic Revival castles. Thursday evening at Kings Langley School, Love Lane, start 25th September 2008.
* 'Family History': Howard Gilbert (10 weeks). Workshop course on personal genealogy. Thursday afternoon at Methodist Church Hall, Abbots Langley, start 2nd October 2008.
* 'Understanding Islam': Dr Caroline Ellwood (10 weeks). Origins, history, expansion and culture. Monday mornings at Quaker Meeting House, 22 St Mary's Road, Hemel Hempstead, start 12th January 2009.
* 'Conflict between Science and Religion in 19C Britain': John Adams (10 weeks). Conflict of evolution theroy and 'special creatonist teaching 1750-1900. Monday mornings at Baptist Church, Kings Langley, start 12th January 2009.
* 'This Rough magic': understanding Shakespeare (10 weeks). Anthony & Cleopatra, King Lear & Tempest. Monday afternoon at Baptist Church, Kings Langley, start 12th January 2009.
* 'North America': Andrew Rudolph (10 weeks). US global dominance from 1945 and through the 'Cold War'. Tuesday morning at All Saints Church, Kings Langley, start 13th January 2009.
* 'Byzantium': Ian Jones (10 weeks). History and culture from Constantinople's foundation to its fall in 1453. Wednesday morning at Baptist Church, Kings Langley, start 14th January 2009.
* 'Industrial Revolution': John Adams (10 weeks). Examining the transition from a rural horse-powered society to urban steam power. Wednesday afternoon at Baptist Church, Kings Langley, start 14th January 2009.
* 'Art History': Nicole Lowe (10 weeks). Examining the social environment from which art work emerges. Thursday morning at Community Centre, The Nap, Kings Langley, start 15th January 2009.
* 'Earth & Life Through Time': Dr Neale Monks (10 weeks). Evolution & the adaption of life to environment changes. Thursday afternoon at Baptish Church, Kings Langley, start 25th January 2009.
