This office oversees the WEA programmes in Bedfordshire, Luton, Cambridgeshire, Peterborough, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk, and Suffolk.
A wide range of subjects is chosen by local groups of students in WEA branches. Courses are offered to all adults at affordable prices. Students require no previous knowledge or qualifications. The courses are friendly, informal and enjoyable.
Subjects include archaeology, architecture, art history, astronomy, current affairs, film, geology, history, literature, local history, music, natural history, psychology and science.
Courses are held in village halls, schools, church halls, libraries and colleges.
The WEA also provides courses for community groups working in partnership with other organisations. These courses are aimed at supporting people who, for whatever reason, fall into the category of "socially, economically or educationally disadvantaged". Courses can be developed to meet the needs of specific students.
WEA stands for Workers' Educational Association.
