bestonbard takes exciting, practical and innovative approaches to tackling Elizabethan and Jacobean plays - bringing the text to life for young people at each stage of their school education. Our workshops are tailored to meet the needs of each school, and support specific examination requirements.
Key stages 1&2 - Introducing Shakespeare to young minds and workshops may lead to an assembly performance.
Key stage 3 - Focusing on National Curriculum test requirements.
Key stage 4 - Practical and fun activities help students to look at text as a series of clues for the actor, director or designer.
Post 16 - Detailed text analysis and sophisticated practical awareness of performance as well as alternative interpretations are encouraged through workshops tailored specifically to exam requirements.
Devising - Provide excellent starting points for students own work, as well as encouraging a range of approaches to making meaning through drama.
Drama in English - Practical sessions aimed at A Level English students to support preparation for written exams.
Play days - One or two day sessions aimed at Years 5 and 6, culminating in a performance of a mini version of a Shakespeare play.
RADA Certificate - Helping prepare students for the exams at Bronze, Silver or Gold level.
I can't act! - For teachers who find themselves meeting Shakespeare with little or no training or experience. Accessible tasks and ways into the text are explored and lesson plans provided.
