Hertfordshire Action on Disability aims to help meet the needs of disabled people in Hertfordshire. As well as many services within the county. It also runs the Terry Stevens Centre in Welwyn Garden City, Herts.
Services of HAD include:
* non-profit making wheelchair-accessible transport service;
* holiday information for people with disabilities;
* counselling by disabled people for disabled people;
* specialist driving assessment in adapted vehicles;
* Work experience;
* Access Audits;
* Adult Care Services Occupational Therapy assessments (Fastest).
HAD's Transport service is available 24 hours a day and can be booked to take disabled peopele wherever they want to go. Telephone for a quote.
The Terry Stevens Centre at the Woodside Centre is a permanent exhibition of equipment which makes life easier for a disabled person. Friendly and informal help and advice is available for disabled people, their family, friends and professional or informal carers.

* Demonstrations arranged;
* Notice Board for second-hand items for sale;
* Family groups welcome; free refreshments.

The Terry Stevens Centre has a multi-sensory room specifically designed for children of pre-school age. This shows equipment that is available commercially or can be made at home. The room is now available for use by parents with disabled children; a ratio of one adult per child is requested (maximum 4 people). Please phone to see or book the room.

Mobility Centre:
Driving assessment and tuition is for disabled people learning to drive for the first time or returning to driving. HAD has six fully adapted cars and can help with getting adaptations for clients' vehicles.
Fastest
This adult core service provides an assessment of needs. This may lead to advice, the provision of equipment, recommendation for minor adaption, or referral to other services, such as the District Council or appropriate Housing Association.
Opening Hours:
* Monday to Friday 8.30am-5.00pm;
* Saturdays 10.00am-2.00pm.
Accessibility: Disabled persons parking bays; accessible toilet. The building is accessible.
