Organisation of people who are themselves blind or partially sighted, seeking to relay to those in authority, from their unique experience of blindness, what are the real needs of blind people, so that services can be improved.
Members of the Federation are campaigning for integrated education, greater employment opportunities, a safer environment and pavements cleared of obstacles, extended social services and immediate help for the group described by the government as the "forgotten few", the deaf-blind.
The Federation is represented on a number of blind welfare and other official bodies and are consulted by government at both national and local level.
They have been successful in securing a considerable number of improvements for visually impaired people and in preventing a number of deteriorations in services.
There are 20 branches of the National Federation located all across the Country. Please contact for details of your nearest branch and how you can help. Various levels of membership are available - contact for details.
