This group wants to promote the rights of people with a learning disability and are there to listen to and support each other while they are doing this.
They have an office which is run with the help of 2 support worker co-ordinators. There are self advocacy groups in Stevenage and Letchworth (with Support Workers) meeting every month, as well as a roving advocacy worker who visits residential homes for people with learning difficulties in Letchworth and Royston.
The organisation visits conferences, holds training courses, attends Adult Care Services and Health Service consultation meeting and networks with other groups in Britain. They also plan and organise days out and parties.
If you are interested in meeting new people, getting your voice heard and learning new skills, then this could be the group for you.
The meetings are held as follows:
- Stevenage: third Thursday of the month.
- Letchworth: second Tuesdays of each month except August.
