Watford Mencap. Community Support Service

This is a service provided by Watford Mencap. Clients are children and adults who have learning disbilities or related special needs.

The Community Support Service (previously Care Indoors) can help adults live independently or provide a break for carers. They enable people to access their local community, whether it is for leisure, education or assisting with shopping. They are accredited by Hertfordshire County Council and most service requests come from social workers. They have been provding a
service since 1994.

The staff are experienced, friendly, and their backgrounds are usually from social care or nursing. Many have relevant qualifications and their training is updated by Watford Mencap. These skills enable staff to relate to people who have severe problems with their communication or behaviour. Many of the clients also have physical disabilities.
