Mencap is the leading UK charity working with children and adults with a learning disability.

The Mencap Learning Disability Helpline 0808 808 1111 is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9.30am to 4.30pm and Wednesday from 9.30am to 1.00pm.

Mencap represents the views and daily experience of people with a learning disability and their families. It campaigns for equal rights by challenging discrimination and disadvantage, raising expectations, and removing barriers to social inclusion. It works closely with local and national government and media to promote the rights of people with a learning disability.

Mencap is striving to achieve its vision of a world where all people with a learning disability have choice, opportunity and respect, with the support they need. It works to deliver change wherever these rights are compromised.

Service include:
* residential and housing service;
* employment service via the Pathway Employment Service;
* leisure services via National Federation of Gateway Clubs;
* education at Mencap's three FE Colleges;
* information via the National Learning Disability Helpline and Information Service.

* Viewpoint: The Newspaper of Mencap and Gateway - National Centre.
