Summary Organisation also known as North Hertfordshire Dyslexia Group (Letchworth).
The North Herts Dyslexia Group was formed in 1993 by a group of
Letchworth parents and teachers. In 2007 we changed our name to
dyslexia matters
The aims of the group are:
* To provide advice, support and information to parents of dyslexic children, dyslexic adults and any other interested people;
* To provide a list of teachers willing to offer tuition to dyslexic children outside school hours;
* To make the public better informed about dyslexia, and to make school more aware of the problems it causes;
* To provide information about other similar events;
* To provide leaflets and books about dyslexia;
* To provide names of educational psychologists and teachers who carry out assessments;
* To help adults to identify themselves and give names of suitable groups and classes;
* To provide computer based Dyslexia screening.
Help is mainly aimed at parents who have concerns about their school aged children. With the groups Helpline and local meetings they can provide flexible support and can point parents in the right direction to get further help or attend meetings run elsewhere. Older dyslexics may also find the group supportive.
We hold regular Saturday workshops for parents and professionals.
Posters are displayed in surgeries, shops and schools and on their website.
The adult support group meets on 2nd Thursday of the month at the Settlement, Nevells Road, Letchworth at 7.30pm, please go along and join them.
