AbilityNet is a national Charity that helps anyone who has difficulty using standard computer access equipment and is dedicated to improving the lives of disabled people through the use of computers and associated technology.
AbilityNet (South East) is a regional office of AbilityNet.
AbilityNet's Freephone service offers advice and information to individuals looking for answers to their own computer access problems.
AbilityNet shows how computers with the appropriate 'get round' technology can help people with all kinds of disabilities to be more independent to communicate more freely and to reach their full potential at work, home, in education and at leisure. They can also advise and assess individuals with limiting conditions that prevent them from using a computer comfortably, e.g RSI or Musculoskeletal problems.
The freephone line is open Mondays to Fridays 9.00am-4.00pm.
Clients are able to visit or phone us from all over the UK.
Consultants from this office are able to travel to the following areas: Berks, Wilts, Hants, Surrey, Bucks, Herts, West London.
AbilityNet run training courses on special needs computing (how computers can help children and adults with learning disabilities, dyslexia, physical access needs) as well as those in work (The management of RSI and Introduction to RSI / Upper Limb Disorders in the workplace) and the Disability Discrimination Act etc. Courses are aimed at people with an interest or working in the areas of Occupational Health and Therapy, General Practise, Special Needs, Day Centres, Education etc.
