Watford Council for Voluntary Service. Transport Office

Volunteer Transport Co-ordinator

Office opening hours: Monday to Friday from 10.00am-4.00pm.

The Volunteer Transport Office aims to help people who have difficulties using public transport for any reason.

A team of volunteer "Diamond Drivers" use their own cars to provide this service and a mileage charge is payable from the time the driver leaves their home, to the time they return home - even for one-way journeys. Charges start from 45p a mile (as at 08/01/2009) so costs are substantially lower than a commercial taxi.

Short trips to hospitals and social clubs, or longer trips to consultants in London or to the seaside can be organised. Please try to give as much notice as possible so that the office has time to find the right driver.

The office is always on the look-out for new volunteers. Please contact for further information.

Registered charity number: 1085518
