The functions of a CVS are to:

* Know about and promote voluntary activities in the area.
* Research needs for the provision of new voluntary services in the community and help to establish those services.
* Help those organisations which provide voluntary services with advice, ideas and practical assistance.
* Work with statutory organisations where appropriate.

Welwyn Hatfield CVS co-ordinates the following services:

CVS Volunteer Bureau
Do you have some spare time to help others? Just a few hours a week can make all the difference to the lives of the elderly, young or disabled. The volunteer bureau has many volunteering opportunities in the Welwyn / Hatfield area. Please contact for further information.

Community Car Scheme
Transport service for people who cannot, due to age, disability or illness, use public transport or afford taxis. A charge of 40p per mile is made. Please contact for further information.

Ethnic Minority Group
The aims of the Welwyn Hatfield Ethnic Minority Group are to:
* Form links with the ethnic minority groups in the area.
* Work with ethnic minority groups to identify their needs.
* To make local agencies ware of these needs.
* To co-operate with local agencies in service delivery.
* To develop social and cultural activities.
* To identify and address the training needs of the ethnic minority community.

Furniture Scheme
The furniture scheme aims to supply safe, clean, affordable furniture and household items to individual and families recieving means tested benefits. All furniture is inspected and tested prior to distribution. Please contact for further information.
