Volunteering England (VE) is the national development agency for volunteering. It is an independent voluntary organisation with a remit to promote, develop and support volunteering in England by influencing the policies and practices which affect it.
As a development agency VE works with other organisations. They are also in a unique position to act across the public, private and voluntary sectors to improve the quality and range of volunteering.
VE is also the membership body for volunteer centres, local infrastructure bodies supporting volunteering in their area
VE believes that volunteering is a distinctive and important aspect of life in the UK - a powerful and abiding force for change for both those who volunteer and the wider community.
Aims:
* To enhance awareness of volunteering with the view to increasing active support for and direct involement in volunteering.
* To see achieved in volunteer-involving organisations standards of excellence in the management of volunteering.
* To see the potential of volunteering developed in areas of current relevance and priority.
* To anticipate, identify and exert influence upon policies, practices and other external factors likely to affect, or be affected by, volunteering.
