The Fund was set up to keep alive the beliefs of Ron Pickering OBE, BBC sports commentator, former teacher and National Coach, that sport enhances the lives of the young in more ways than the physical.
Financial help is given to talented young track and field athletes between the ages of 15 and 23 who are in education, to assist their transition from Junior to Senior ranks of track and field athletics. Help is also available for coaches dealing with this age group. Please write for an application form between October and November each year, or download from website.
Personal donations and bequests are made to the fund and the main source of revenue comes from the "Run for Ron" team who make use of the guaranteed entries to the London Marathon each year. Every penny raised is given out in grants the following year.
