The purpose of the LRF is to find cures for all forms of leukaemia and the related cancers of the blood in children and adults.
The Fund believes that its aims can best and most quickly be achieved by:
* a national concerted approach to research and raising the substantial funding that is needed for it;
* subjecting its work to the careful scrutiny of an independent Medical and Scientific Advisory Panel whose expertise is complemented by reference to specialists worldwide.
The LRF is the third largest cancer charity in Britain and depends entirley upon voluntary contributions. The Fund comprises a national network of voluntary fundraising Branches, supporters and friends who are committed to the above mission and the means of acheiving it. This local and national effort means that the LRF can cotinue its work in these five main areas:
* Research Projects;
* The Research Development Programme;
* Patient Care;
* Training and Development;
* National and International Collaboration.
