Summary Baby Life Support Systems
Founded by volunteers in 1979, BLISS the premature baby charity, is dedicated to making sure that more babies born prematurely or sick in the UK survive and that each one has the the best quality of life. Bliss aims to realise this by:
* promoting new developments and innovations in care;
* supporting parents and families;
* campaigning for improvements in neonatal care.
One in ten babies born in Britain will require special hospital care. To ensure the best chance of survival these sick babies are dependent on having access to the most up-to-date care and facilities available.
Rickmansworth group hold one local 'family day' each year. The 'family day' is a free all day (lunch provided) event with talks on feeding, development and baby massage. There is also a session for mothers and separately fathers, to get to know each other. A free on-site creche is provided.
Any donations are gratefully accepted.
They are always please to welcome new volunteers to join them.
Publications: Booklets on practical issues such as 'Going Home on Oxygen', Ventilation and Weaning; 'Look at me - I'm Talking to you'; 'Going Home, Breast Feeding Your Premature Baby' and many others.
