The Foundation brings together all sorts of people who share a common interest in the well-being of our community.
It does this by:
* raising and managing funds for local people seeking a simple and effective way to support local causes;
* making grants to enable grants to local charities and voluntary groups to tackle identified needs.
By combining the donations of people wishing to put something back into the community, and making grants to people able to put them to good use, the Foundation is already able to make a difference to the work of local groups.
But this is just the beginning: as a permanent source for charitable funding for Hertfordshire, the Foundation's endowment fund will generate an ever-increasing income that will help care for our community in the years to come.
Priority areas for grantmaking are:
* Disadvantaged children and families
* Developing young people
* Access to education, training and employment
* The quality of life of older people
