The Officers Association is a welfare charity which provides financial assistance and advice for ex-officers and dependants in distress.
The organisation also manages a residential home for ex-officers, both male and female and widow/widowers and a small estate of bungalows for disabled officers and their families.
Date of AGM: April.
Assistance can be given in a number of ways such as:
* Cash grants to those in financial distress;
* Continuing allowances to those with very small incomes;
* Financial assistance towards residential care or nursing home fees for those needing such accommodation but who are unable to find a suitable Home within their own means even with state assistance;
* In special circumstances only, limited financial help with education or training fees;
* General advice on entitlement to statutory benefits and Care in the Community legislation.
The Association has a wide network of Honorary Representatives throughout the United Kingdom and abroad. These representatives carry out casework, normally visiting appplicants in their own homes to discuss problems in private and, if appropriate, to offer immediate advice. The Association's Benevolence Committee then promptly and fully considers visitors' reports in confidence and help is given strictly on the merits of each individual's case.
