The objectives of the organisation are promoting the appreciation and study of the work of Graham Greene. The Trust was launched at a public meeting in Berkhamsted on 2 October 1997 (the 93rd anniversary of Graham Greene's Birth).

Activities include:
* Study and research of the life and works of Graham Greene;
* Four day annual festival, including films and discussions on or near 2 October each year;
* Berkhamsted Town Trail of fictional and biographical sites;
* Graham Greene memorial awards;
* Maintenance of the Graham Greene archive.
* Literary tours;
* Festival 2008 2nd-5th October.

Publications:
* Quarterly Newsletters (for Friends of the Trust);
* The Berkhamsted Graham Greene Trail;
* Occasional Papers;
* Video - Graham Greene Festivals (1998 and 1999);
* Compact Discs - The voice of Graham Greene; Festival lectures.

Subscription to become a Friend of the Trust: Subscription runs for a year from June to May. If membership is applied for between October and May, a one year subscription also covers the following year.

Subscription costs:
* UK: 1 year - £9.00, 3 years - £23.00;
* Rest of Europe: 1 year - £13.00, 3 years - £31.00;
* Elsewhere: 1 year - £17.00, 3 years - £43.00.
