At nursery children begin to play with other children, develop self-confidence, test their own skills and learn through stimulating individual and group activities. They develop valuable habits of work and play, learn to share and take turns, make a choice and respect the rights of others.
Each term runs a planned theme, maybe animals or water, etc. Everyday there is an activity prepared which all the children are encouraged to join in with. They will bring lots of work home, but we hope they will leave some to put on the walls! Music, snack time and outdoor play are included in every session.
The Nursery School is available in term time. The permanent premises are used only by the group. There is also a car park for the use of the group. 95% of staff hold qualifications including graduates, NNEB, NVQ3 and a Consultant Teacher.
We have three classes:
* 2-3 year olds in the afternoons;
* 3-4 years;
* 4-5 years in the mornings.
We welcome children with SEN and have a designated SENCO.
They frequently have visitors from the wider community, for example, the fire service, the police force and willing parents, etc. who are invited in to share exciting learning opportunities with them.
The School has passed its inspections by Ofsted with several areas graded as outstanding and works in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage with great strengths. It is also part of the DFEE Early Years Development Plan and is authorised to receive government funding for all four year olds, three year olds and eligible two year olds.
