London Colney Nursery School

London Colney Nursery School has served the local community for over 60 years. 'It is a welcoming and nurturing environment in which children develop and learn. It is a good school' (Ofsted 2006).

The teaching staff are all early years specialists. They plan a stimulating play based curriculum of fun, first hand experiences, using the Foundation Stage Guidance, for both inside and in the large garden area and to meet the needs of all the children.

The school recently achieved (2006) both Healthy School status and Herts Quality Standards.

The Nursery schools provides free educational sessions of two and a half hours a day for children from 3 years and 4 months. It works in very close partnership with London Colney Child Care Centre, which shares the same site. This offers full day care for children from 2 years 49 weeks a year.

Children who have just turned 3 are entitled to 5 free sessions in the childcare centre in the term before they start nursery school.

Within our children's centre we now offer a range of services for families eg. play and stay, toy library and Friendship Group.
