The Rye Park Nursery School Centre has been serving the community of Hoddedon and surrounding areas for many years. 'Rye Park is an outstanding school that provides an excellent education for the children. Children achieve outstandingly well and attain standards that are well above expected levels because of the highly effective provision that they receive' (Ofested June 2007).
The school is funded by Hertfordshire County Council, Education Authority and offers quality provision for the pre-school child. They have facilities to accommodate 120 children; 60 children each session for five free mornings/afternoons. There is also a Lunch Club and daycare from 9.00am-4.00pm 46 weeks a year available.
The school is able to offer a caring and stimulating environment for your child during this next stage in their education. They are able to support your child in this learning process by employing staff with particular expertise in the needs of young children. Teaching staff have specialised in the teaching of Early Years and the Nursery Nurses have full NNEB qualifications. Their facilities, both in personnel and building, are such that they are also able to provide curriculum access for children with special needs who require extra support and care.
Prospective parents are welcomed and encouraged to visit the Nursery during session times. A member of staff is always made available to explain the school layout, areas of work and methods. They operate aspects of the 'Highscope' approach to early years learning, recognising each child as an individual and helping them on the road to independent learning. Active learning is essential - with the support of trained staff to encourage further thinking and discovery.
The term in which your child starts school will depend on where their birthday falls.
Autumn Term - Children born September 1st to February 28th;
Spring Term - Children born from March 1st to August 31st.
Early places will be offered if vacancies arise for children who have just turned three years.
The term before your child is due to enter the Nursery School, parents are sent a letter and a further application for requesting up to date information. Once accepting a place, parents are invited to re-visit the school and collect a "Welcome Pack" at an open morning/afternoon. This pack contains information of a practical nature which will help to explain details regarding admission.
