" Fun and learning in a caring environment."
Fleetville Community Playgroup is a not-for-profit pre-school which meets at Fleetville Community Centre on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9.15am-11.45am. The playgroup is registered with Ofsted to take up to 23 children aged between 2 years 6 months and 5 years. Children over 3 qualify for free sessions through the nursery grant scheme.
Their emphasis is on children learning through play in a happy stimulating atmosphere.
Each morning children take part in whole group activities like singing and storytime and in small group activities with their key workers such as craft or cookery and snacktime. There are also plenty of opportunities for free play. Indoor activities include painting, clay modelling, construction (farm, trains, cars, doll's house), games and puzzles or dressing up in the playhouse. They can also choose to play with water and sand outside in the garden where there is room for trikes, scooters and dolls' prams.
They choose a different theme (for example, weather, transport etc) each half term which is reflected in the activities they plan.
A committee of parents helps the staff to run the playgroup and organises fund raising events to buy new toys and equipment.
They belong to the Pre-School Learning Alliance.
