Letchworth Pre-School Music Club, founded in 1997 for all children under school age, aims to provide musical fun in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Music as part of your child's everyday life benefits them in all sorts of ways. The classes will help develop listening, concentration and attention skills and aid memory and linguistic development through repetition and imitation. Social skills such as turn taking, co-operation and following instructions are practised.
Even babies have an instinctive response to music and by helping that develop, you can give them the ability to express mood and emotions and build confidence.
The half hour sessions introduce children to action and movement songs, musical rhymes and clapping and bouncing games. The children have the chance to play percussion instruments and learn to follow simple musical instructions. There are also demonstrations of various orchestral instruments and an opportunity to listen to a wide range of music during the class.
Parents or carers participate with their children and classes are led by live singing, rather than recorded music. Anyone can take part, even if they think they can't sing!
Times: Tuesday mornings and Wednesday afternoons term time only.
Costs: £3.40 per class (£1.50 concessions), annual membership £2.00. Reduced rate for siblings attending classes. Payable half-termly in advance. Free trial session.
