AFAA is a national association of families who have adopted from abroad. The organisation is run by volunteers and is a Registered Charity.
The aim of AFAA is to help adopted children grow up happy and well adjusted, proud of their birth country, and well integrated into their country of adoption.
AFAA support Inter-Country Adoptive (ICA) families in identifying and resolving the issues they encounter as an ICA family.
AFAA supports perspective Inter-country Adoption in terms of information to enable them to make an informed decision.
AFAA operate an advice line which is supported by a number of members who have recently adopted and are willing to talk to prospective adopters.
AFAA are active in supporting Government departments, Social Services and voluntary agencies in terms of ICA.
AFAA has three forms of membership: Full membership for those who have already adopted from abroad, affiliate membership for those considering adoption from abroad and Associate Membership for organisation with an interest in ICA Leg, Social Services, voluntary adoption agencies.
