Adventure is at the core of Scouting. They believe that through adventure, they can challenge individuals so they experience new things that enrich their lives, both adults and young people.
Scout Fellowship is a section for adults aged over 18 years old with a varied programme of sporting and social activities as well as providing active support to the younger sections. They have a number of successfull Fellowships in Watford, all supporting Scouting in different ways. This might be helping a particular Scout Group.
Scout Fellowship is one way of supporting Scouting and as with other roles, something can be found to suit the time and skill you have to offer. Leaders, helpers, managers, administrators, skills instructors, camp site staff, trainers and charity trustees are all examples of other opportunities available.
The Scout Association purpose is to help young people achieve their full physical intellectual, social and spiritual potentional as individuals, responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities. They believe that Scouting works well when young people enjoy "learning by doing" in partnership with adults. They do this by:
* taking part in a variety of activities and new experiences;
* exploring the outdoors;
* participating in teams;
* taking responsibility.
For general information on Scouting, see the national website. Scouting is open to those of all faiths and offers equal opportunities to all of the community, regardless of their gender, social, religious or ethnic background.
