The Group is based in Scout Headquarters on the corner of Hamilton Road and upper Highway Hunton Bridge.
Within the 5th North Watford 1st Langleybury Scout Group, they have the following sections:
Beaver Scouts colony (ages 6-8 years);
Cub Scouts pack (8-10.5 years);
Scout troop (ages 10.5-14 years).
The 5th North Watford 1st Langleybury Scout Group is a co-educational group accepting both boys and girls into all three sections. Due to popularity, a waiting scheme may operate; please enquire for more details.
The Scout Associations purpose is to help young people achieve their full potential as individuals, responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities. They believe that scouting works well when young people enjoy 'learning by doing' in partnership with adults. They do this by:
* taking part in a variety of activities and new experiences;
* exploring the outdoors;
* participating in teams;
* taking responsibility.
Their method of giving young people the opportunity to learn by doing is called the Programme. The Programme is a seamless progression of training, activities and awards that covers everything that young people do in Scouting from age 6-25 years. Scouting delivers The Programme in five age groups - called sections - so that they can be sure it is always appropriate to young people as they grow and learn.
Special activities take place during weekends and holiday periods, all containing the elements of fun and character training and providing a challenge to the young people.
Provision for Explorer Scouts (14-18 years old) is provided by Watford North Scout District and Scout Network (18-25 years old) by Hertfordshire Scouts.
Scouting is open to those of all faiths and offers equal opportunities to all young people in the community, regardless of their gender, social, religious and ethnic background.
