Chaulden Adventure Playground is FREE and makes an ideal place for meeting up with friends as well as the place to make some new friends too! It also makes an inexpensive place for a day out. Visitors may play freely or join in one of the many organised activities. Our open access facilities are supervised by Qualified play leaders and are Ofsted registered. Located on Long Chaulden, Hemel Hempstead, HP1 2HX.

Saturday and Sunday from 1.00pm-5.00pm.

Indoor facilities (in the cabin) include:
Table tennis, air hockey, snooker and pool, football table, computer games, arts and crafts room, board games, etc.
Outdoor facilities include:
Scramble nets, aerial runway, many wooden climbing frames, including a pirate ship and train, slides and swings as well as football pitch, tennis, basketball/netball hoops, cricket, rounders, team games (run-outs and family it), sports and tournaments are also organised. We also have giant games, pogo sticks and pedal carts. All equipment is supplied by the playground. Tuck shop available or bring a picnic, stay all day or just an hour or so. Hot snacks lunches available (all day opening only).
Our school holiday programme: as well as outdoor adventure play, sports and games we also offer arts and crafts session between 10.00am-12.00pm and 2.00pm-4.00pm with a different theme every session. Seasonal themes based on Easter, Halloween, Christmas and more. A small sample of items on our programme are plaster moulds, face masks, T-shirt prints, tile painting, sand pictures, clay pots, picture frames, jewellery making, salt dough, glass painting, decorations and cards.
On your first visit, please ensure a parent fills in a registration form, after that please sign in and out after each visit. Parents are welcome to stay. The playground is for young people from age 6-12 years. You may stay until the end of the summer holidays when in year 8 even though you are 13 as long as you have registered by age 12. Under 6’s are welcome but an adult must stay with them.
Groups and young peoples organisations including Cub Scouts, Brownies, etc. are welcome to attend, but please telephone in advance with approximate number and to discuss any requirements or questions you may have.
The Playground is also available for hire out of normal opening hours to schools and other children’s organisations or groups and also for children’s parties, activity days or sports training (our hard court is floodlit). Please ring for prices.
Donations of paper, craft materials, games, sports equipment, etc. no matter how small or large are welcome by playground staff and is much appreciated by the children.
This FREE service is provided by Dacorum Borough Council – Children and Young People Unit. There is also three other adventure playgrounds in Hemel Hempstead at: Adeyfield – Turners Hill, Bennetts End – Rant Meadow and Woodhall Farm / Grovehill – Redbourn Road.
