The Capital Arts Children's Choir is regarded as one of the finest children's choirs in the country. The choir was founded in 1991 by its director, Kathleen Shanks, and is in much demand; singing in major choral works at concert halls in London and throughout the UK with leading orchestras and choirs. Other performances include opera, musicals, recitals, film work and recordings.
The choir has a number of West End shows to its credit and it was chosen by Andrew Lloyd Webber to perform in Joseph and His Technicolor Dreamcoat at the London Palladium. Recently the choir has performed in Show Boat and La Boheme at the Royal Albert Hall, filmed for Jim Jam and Sunny for CITV and Murder in Suburbia for Granada TV. The choir has performed in the Royal Albert Hall operas for Raymond Gubbay Ltd for the past five years. The Capital Arts Children’s Choir is currently contracted to Simon Cowell’s SyCo label at Sony BMG.
In addition to performances in this country, the choir has given a number of recitals abroad, most recently in New York, with performances at the United Nations Building and St Patrick’s Cathedral, Fifth Avenue
The Capital Arts Children’s Choir has toured extensively and has broadcast on radio and television in the UK, France, Germany, USA, Canada, China and Russia.
The Capital Arts Children's Choir has performed before royalty and state leaders, in this country and abroad, including a Royal Variety Performance before Her Majesty the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.
