The Flood Incident Management Team provide information on what to do if flooding is likely in your local area. Floodline is a 24hour helpline service where you can listen to up to date information about the flood warnings in force throughout England and Wales, or speak to an operator. All calls are charged at local rates. If you would like an information pack about flooding then please call FLOODLINE 0845 988 1188, and a pack will be sent to you, it is also available in Welsh, Hindi, Urdu, Gujarati, Punjabi, Bengali, Somali and Chinese, and in large print for the visually impaired.
Flood warning information will be broadcast on local radio, AA Roadwatch may also include flood warnings in travel bulletins. You can check the weather pages on Teletext page 154 and Ceefax 419. Weather broadcasts on television may also provide flooding information. The Environment Agency website has live updates of flood warning information
The Environment Agency operates a four stage flood warning system for river flooding.
* FLOOD WATCH - Flooding of low lying land, roads and agricultural land is expected. Be Aware! Be Prepared! Watch Out!
* FLOOD WARNING - Flooding of homes, businesses and main roads is expected. Act Now!
* SEVERE FLOOD WARNING - Severe flooding expected. There is extreme danger to life and property. Act Now!
* ALL CLEAR - There are no flood Watches or Warnings currently in force.
