The purpose of the Child Support Agency (CSA) is to assess, collect and pay child support maintenance, ensuring that parents who live apart meet their financial responsibilities to their children.

The CSA is an executive agency of the Department of Works and Pensions and are responsible for running the child support system which was introduced in April 1993.
