A completely voluntary organisation with approximately 250 branches throughout the Country.
Funds are raised by rummage sales, raffles, bring-and-buy sales, craft fayres etc.
Funds raised are used to care for stray cats and kittens (not ferals) in foster homes.
Cats and kittens that come into the Cat Protection's care, are fed and looked after until homes can be found for them. Quite often this involves paying for veterinary attention. A voucher scheme for neutering costs is available to those receiving social assistance.
The local membership is about 110 people, of all ages. Annual subscription is £3.50.
Committee meetings are held monthly, on the first Monday 8.00pm-9.30pm.
Publications: The Cat Magazine (national); local cat newsletter Cat Chat - twice yearly to members.
