The Cats Protection North Hertfordshire Branch is part of the UK's oldest and largest feline charity and activley helps rehome cats within the postcodes SG1 to SG7. The Charity's vision is to ensure that every cat is given the chance of a life where it will be treated with kindness and and understanding of its needs.
CPNH branch's work involves the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of needy cats and kittens. They provide shelter, food and veterinary attention to all cats in their care until a suitable home can be found. Cats Protection maintains a strict non-euthanasia policy - cats are never put down, except on veterinary advice.
The North Herts branch is run completely by volunteers and apart from a small grant from HQ, is entirely self-sufficient. They are dependent on locally raised funds to care for the cats that they have rescued. All cats rescued are cared for in individual foster homes.
Main aims of Cats Protection North Hertforsdhire Branch:
* To rescue stray and unwanted cats and kittens and to rehabilitate and rehome them where possible.
* To encourage the neutering of all cats and kittens not required for breeding. Cats Protection supports neutering as the only effective way of reducing the vast numbers of unwanted cats and kittens. There is an annual neutering scheme for cats who's owners are on low incomes.
* To inform the public on the correct care of cats and kittens. Cats Protection North Herts provides advice to the public through their website, helpline and literature, which covers every aspect of cat care.
