This is the national HQ of the Trust.
The mission of the BTO is to promote and encourage the wider understanding, appreciation and conservation of birds through scientific studies using the combined skills and enthusiasm of its members, other birdwatchers and staff.
The BTO is supported by volunteers who undertake national surveys throughout the UK. The longest running survey is the national ringing scheme (since 1909) but there are many others, including the Garden Birdwatch scheme whose membership exceeds 15,000.
