Family services in Dacorum

The council offers four adventure playgrounds, all day playschemes, activity sessions, playsites, open play spaces and child protection training. Little Hay Golf Complex and the local sports trust also offer a wide variety of activities. Recently opened was the open-access skate park in Hemel Hempstead.

The Arts Service is similarly committed to working with young people. Family theatre performances and opportunities for young people with mild to moderate learning difficulties are just the start. Drama clubs, local youth councils and work with excluded and vulnerable young people, using the arts, helps them gain confidence, improve their communication skills and enjoy themselves.

Work with local schools and colleges helps to raise awareness of preventing homelessness amongst children aged 15-18. Statutory and voluntary agencies, together with registered social landlords also help in reducing homelessness for young people in the area.

The anti-social behaviour team work throughout the borough providing advice, support and enforcement on all types of anti-social behaviour. Many of the people the team help to develop the skills and confidence to become positive members of the wider community and address some of the causes of anti-social behaviour are below the age of 19.
