Stairlifts

If you have mobility difficulties, and think that you need a stairlift, you can ask us to send one of our staff to visit you and discuss whether a stairlift is appropriate. If it is, then we will talk about how it may be funded.

If you are thinking of buying a stairlift yourself, it is still advisable to check whether this is the most appropriate option for you and your home.

You can buy a stairlift from a specialist manufacturer or a company that deals in second-hand reconditioned stairlifts. Both of these should provide you with a guarantee and some form of service agreement.

If buying through a private arrangement (eg. adverts in the local paper or notice board) it is still advisable to check that:
  • it is suitable for your home
  • it conforms with current safety standards
  • the manufacturer is still in business and/or parts are still available if anything goes wrong
A stairlift should always be serviced and installed by a stairlift specialist. Do not attempt to wire it up and install it yourself.
