It's kick-off time for new Leyden House service at Broadhall Way

April saw the start of a new service for people with learning disabilities on the grounds of the Stevenage Borough Football Club

Initial discussions between the Stevenage Borough Football Club and Leyden House bore fruit in April when Leyden House started a new service on the grounds of the up and coming red and white squad.

A number of service users interested in football were thrilled at the idea of moving to a place that is right in the middle of the action.
When invited to join the service, service users’ comments ranged from “Smashing!” to “I can’t wait to get there!”.

Sue McCutcheon reprovision project leader said “what an opportunity! In Gunnells Wood Road public transport was non-existent and now, we can easily go to central Stevenage and beyond without relying on large ambulances…
The shops are within easy walking distance.
I am now talking to the team about doing some voluntary work and get more involvement in the life of the team”.

Service users have been able to watch the team train and we have plans to join them into healthy living and keep fit sessions.
