A Guide to our services
Hertfordshire County Council's Borehamwood Multipurpose Day Service provides day opportunities for people with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and older people. The service is open from Monday to Friday, between 9am and 4pm.

What we offer
We offer service users a range of activities through access to community facilities and centre-based activities. Our programme of activities aims to maintain exisiting skills, knowledge and abilities as well as exploring and gaining new ones.

Special facilities
The service is equiped with specialist resources that facilitate participation in activities. Our working partnership with other professionals enables our servcie users to access, amongst others, community nurses, therapists and social workers.

About the staff
Our staff team is multicultural, reflecting the local community. As a team our combined training offers a wealth of skills, knowledge and abilities in a range of fields to include social care.
All members of staff receive person centred planning training to ensure that our service users are supported to fulfill, where practicable, their needs and aspirations.

Lunch and refreshments
There is a choice of hot and cold food at lunchtime and we are able to cater for medical and cultural dietary dishes. We have a vending machine serving hot and cold drinks for a charge and free chilled water.

We are wheelchair friendly
The centre is fully accessible for anyone with mobility problems, including wheelchair users.

Smoking
We ask people not to smoke at any of our establishments. There are designated areas where smoking is allowed outside the building.

Transport is not automatically provided for people attending Adult Care Services. User’s needs will be assessed by the local Adult Care Services Area Teams to see if any support is needed with travel, and a variety of options will be explored. Where it is identified that the person requires specialist transport, the Area Team worker will arrange for it. Where transport is provided by Adult Care Services there is a charge to the person of £2 per return journey if they are assessed as being able to pay.
