From September 2001, Ofsted, through their new Early Years Directorate, assumed responsibility for the regulation of providers of childcare services.
Ofsted registers and inspects nurseries, playgroups and pre-schools, crèches, childminders and out-of-school care for children up to the age of eight.
It is also responsible for investigating any complaints about individual providers.
Please select the signpost to the right of this page to enter the OFSTED website to find out more.
There are different projects and initiatives available to support practitioners in raising the quality of provision in all Hertfordshire early years and playwork settings.
If you are a new or existing provider of early years education you may need the support of a quality improvement partner or qualified teacher(QT).
For support on quality improvement processes and projects, please contact the early years advisory team on 01582 830110.
