Quality in Childcare and Early Years Education

From September 2001, Ofsted, through their new Early Years Directorate, assumed responsibility for the regulation of providers of childcare services.

Ofsted registers and inspects nurseries, playgroups and pre-schools, crèches, childminders and out-of-school care for children up to the age of eight.

It is also responsible for investigating any complaints about individual providers.

There are different projects and initiatives available to support practitioners in raising the quality of provision in all Hertfordshire early years and playwork settings.
