At the time of the assessment (Summer 2007) we found that:
  • St Albans had a total population of 132,196 people, this equated to 13% of the population of Hertfordshire. 26,034 (20%) of the St Albans population were aged 0 – 14 years, this matched the proportion for Hertfordshire overall (20%).
  • Overall there appears to be sufficient childcare in this district although the number of childminding places could be increased in a small number of children centre communities

  • Full Day Care places – 1,623
  • Sessional Day Care places – 766
