At the time of the assessment (Summer 2007) we found that:
  • East Hertfordshire had a total population of 131,013 people, this equated to 12.9% of the population of Hertfordshire. 25,533 (19%) of the East Hertfordshire population were aged 0 – 14 years
  • Data suggests there were an adequate number of childcare places available for children in this area; however, there was a higher than average numbers of 0-14 year olds in this district, therefore the expected demand for childcare needs to be monitored.

The following number of places were available in East Hertfordshire:
  • Childminder places (0 – 8) – 1,128
  • Childminder places (0 – 14) – 1,128
  • Full Day Care places – 848
  • Sessional Day Care places – 1,059
  • Out of School places – 748
