Connexions is the information, advice, guidance and support service for all 13-19 year olds in England. It aims to provide advice and support across a range of issues and smooth the path into adulthood and working life.
Connexions brings together all the services and support that young people might need, including:
- Practical help on courses, education, and careers
- Activities, such as sport, arts or volunteering
- Advice and support on drugs, sexual health and homelessness
Connexions has local branches that are run under national guidelines. For young people who require individual support there are Personal Advisers who will work with them on a one to one basis from various locations such as schools, colleges, drop-in and community centres.
In Hertfordshire Personal Advisers are based within:
- Hertfordshire Careers Service
- Hertfordshire County Council:
Minority Ethnic Curriculum Support Service
Education, Training and Employment of Care Leavers
Youth Programmes
Youth Service
Youth Offending Team
and voluntary sector groups including:
- Watford Racial Equality Council
For young people who do not require on going support but who would like access to information or advice on a range of different issues Connexions offer a dedicated helpline service that is open sixteen hours per day, seven days a week called Connexions Direct.
