Benefits for Special Needs and Disabled Children
The Benefits Advice service gives advice and assistance on welfare benefits.
The following links on the right hand side of the page, to Benefits advice may be useful:
- Benefits for Children with a Disability provides useful information about benefits that you might be able to claim for your child or yourself because you are looking after a disabled child. The fact sheet explaining all these benefits is also available to download at the bottom of this page.
- Ill and Disabled Pack contains information about the benefits young people with disabilities can claim as they grow up. The fact sheet explaining all these benefits is also available to download at the bottom of this page
If you need detailed benefit advice about your own situation that cannot be answered by our fact sheets, then contact your social worker, health visitor or school and ask them to contact the Money Advice Unit on your behalf. The information and advice you need will then be passed on to you.
The Money Advice Unit has a Children with Disabilities project which helps families of children with disabilities to claim Disability Living Allowance. Ask your social worker to contact the unit on your behalf or you can contact the unit directly and ask for the Children with Disabilities Project.
